What are the precautions when drying Xinjiang long-staple cotton home textile products?

Xinjiang long-staple cotton home textile products because of the fiber is thin and soft, light resistance is weak, drying needs special attention to the method, in order to avoid fiber damage, fabric fading or deformation. The following are specific precautions and operational points:
First, drying environment and light control
Strictly prohibit exposure to the sun
Core reason: long-staple cotton fibers are easy to oxidize and become brittle under strong light, resulting in fabric feel hard, yellowish color (especially light-colored or white products), long-term exposure to sunlight will also accelerate fiber breakage, shorten the service life.
Correct practice: Choose a cool and ventilated place for drying (e.g. inside the balcony, indoor drying racks), avoid direct sunlight; if drying outdoors, use a sunshade net to block the sunlight, or dry in the early morning/evening when the sunlight is weaker, so as to shorten the time of exposure to the sun.
Avoid direct sunlight on dark-colored fabrics
Although dark colors (e.g. dark blue, burgundy) do not yellow easily, UV rays will accelerate the decomposition of dyes, causing colors to fade and become old. It is recommended to turn over the side to dry (reverse side outward), to reduce the direct impact of ultraviolet light on the surface of the fabric.
Second, drying methods and hanging techniques
According to the type of products to choose the hanging method
Large home textiles (e.g. duvet cover, bed sheet):
Use wide-shoulder hangers or lay flat for drying (e.g. clothesline, drying rack), avoid hanging with thin hangers (the force area of thin hangers is small, which will easily lead to sagging and deformation of fabric shoulders).
If hanging, the duvet cover / bed sheet can be folded in half and then hung to reduce the weight of the fiber pull (especially high-count, high-density satin fabrics, wet weight, easy to stretch deformation).
Small products (e.g. pillowcases, towels):
Lay flat for drying or evenly unfold and hang, avoid twisting into a ball for drying (resulting in uneven drying and localized wrinkles).
Prevent hooking and friction
Drying away from sharp objects (such as drying rack hook burrs, rough walls), avoid mixing and drying with denim, sweaters and other fabrics prone to pilling (friction may lead to long-staple cotton fabric hooks).
Third, the degree of drying and subsequent processing
Control drying degree
Drying to 8-9% dry when you can put away (fabrics feel slightly damp but no water droplets), to avoid completely dry fabrics become hard. If the fabric is completely dry, spray a small amount of water lightly before storing and shake gently before folding to maintain softness.
Finishing after drying
Gently stretch the fabric in a semi-dry state, adjust the folds (such as the four edges of the bed sheet and the corners of the quilt cover) to avoid the formation of stubborn creases after drying; if there are slight folds, you can iron at low temperature (pad thin cotton), and it is recommended to iron the gonza fabrics from the opposite side to keep the luster.
Fourth, special scenes and material notes
Jacquard / satin fabrics
The surface of such fabrics have delicate patterns or satin luster, drying to avoid pulling the pattern (wet state of the fiber strength is low, pulling easy to lead to pattern deformation), it is recommended to lay flat to dry to reduce the gravity of the hanging stretch.
First time drying of newly purchased products
When drying for the first time after washing, dark-colored fabrics can be added to the anti-dyeing towel (adsorption of free dyes), to avoid contact with other items in the drying process of dyeing; light-colored products are dried separately, to prevent stringing colors.
