Xinjiang long-staple cotton home textile products washing and maintenance methods

Popularity of natural fibers: the use of natural fibers such as cotton, hemp, silk and other new environmentally friendly fibers such as soybean fibers, modal, bamboo fibers and other new types of fibers increases, while the use of traditional chemical fibers may decrease.

Xinjiang long-staple cotton home textile products because of the slender fiber, soft texture, washing and maintenance need to pay attention to details in order to maintain its softness, luster and durability. The following are specific methods and precautions:
First, the preparation before washing
Check the washing label
Regular products will be labeled washing methods (such as water temperature, whether machine washable / bleach, etc.), strictly according to the label (Xinjiang long-staple cotton is usually recommended mild washing).
Pre-treating stains
Oil stains, sweat stains and other timely use of cold water to gently rub, avoid using hot water (high temperature is easy to make protein stains coagulation); stubborn stains can be used neutral detergent localized application, and then wash after 5-10 minutes of rest.
Second, the choice of washing methods
1. Points of machine washing
Water temperature control: cold water or lukewarm water below 30 ℃ (high temperature will lead to fabric shrinkage, discoloration, damage to fiber toughness).
Detergent selection: use neutral detergent (such as liquid laundry detergent, special detergent for silk and wool), avoid alkaline soap or laundry detergent (easy to damage the fibers, resulting in fabric hardening).
Washing Mode: Choose “Gentle Mode” or “Wool Mode” to reduce strong friction; wash separately, avoid mixing with zippers, buttons and other sharp items (to prevent hooking).
Dewatering speed: Dewatering speed ≤ 800 rpm, or directly wringing (high speed is easy to deform the fabric).
2. Hand washing
Dissolve the detergent in lukewarm water below 30℃, put the home textile products into gentle kneading (avoid rubbing or twisting), and use soft brush to lightly brush the dirty places.
Rinse with lukewarm water to ensure that the detergent residue is washed (residue can easily lead to fabric hardening, color fading).
Third, drying and drying skills
Drying method
Avoid exposure to the sun: Xinjiang long-staple cotton fabrics are less light-resistant, exposure to the sun will lead to brittle fibers, fabrics yellowing, should be dried in a ventilated cool place (such as the inside of the balcony).
Turn over to dry: dark fabrics turn over to dry, reduce the damage of ultraviolet radiation on the fabric color; light-colored fabrics can be front drying, but need to avoid prolonged exposure to direct light.
Hanging method: use wide hangers or lay flat for drying (such as bed sheets, quilt covers), avoid hanging with thin hangers (to prevent fabric deformation and shoulder sagging).
Drying Attention
Natural drying to 8-9% dry, you can gently stretch the fabric to restore flatness (to avoid completely dry hard); if you use a dryer, choose “low temperature drying” mode (temperature ≤ 50 ° C), and put in a clean wool ball (to reduce static electricity, keep fluffy).
Fourth, daily maintenance details
Storage method
Clean and dry: Make sure it is completely dry before storing, avoiding dampness that leads to mold and mildew (you can put in dehumidifying bags or mothballs to prevent insects from infesting the fabric, but you need to wrap the mothballs in paper towels to avoid direct contact with the fabric).
Folding method: flat folding, avoid excessive extrusion (especially high-count, high-density satin fabrics, extrusion is easy to produce permanent creases); high-end products can be placed in a dust bag to reduce the accumulation of dust.
Storage environment: stored in a ventilated, dry closet, avoid mixing with sharp objects or rough fabrics (such as denim) to prevent hooking.
Regular Care
Ironing treatment: If there is a slight crease, you can iron at low temperature when the fabric is half dry (temperature ≤ 150 ℃, padded with thin cotton), satin fabrics are recommended to be ironed from the reverse side, to maintain the luster; completely dry fabrics can be sprayed with a small amount of water and then ironed, to avoid damage to the fibers by dry ironing.
Avoid frequent washing: long-staple cotton fabrics are highly hygroscopic, regular replacement of pillowcases and quilt covers for daily use, and reduce the overall number of washings (it is recommended to wash every 2-3 weeks, and in winter, it can be extended to 1 month) in order to prolong the service life.
